Come on down to the Marksville Farmers' Market!

Every Saturday morning in June from 8 - 11 am on the Historic Courthouse Square.

This will be our 4th season, and we have grown every year.  As in the past, we will have free coffee, kids activities, live entertainment, along with the best, freshest, local produce & fruit around! Vendors will also be selling jams, honey, flowers, herbs, breads, sweets, goat cheese, fresh smoothies, hand-made soaps, crafts, jewelry, etc.

Slow Food Avoyelles

The Marksville Farmers' Market was created in 2007 by a group of dedicated volunteers & dreamers.  We hoped an exciting, social event could serve a higher purpose... supporting our local farmers and food artisans!

Slow Food Avoyelles is a part of an international organization - Slow Food, this encompasses diverse groups of people, such as teachers, artists, attorneys, home gardeners, doctors, chefs, & studentsAnyone can join!!!

 APCS Edible Schoolyard

Slow Food Avoyelles' new project, the Edible Schoolyard, at the Avoyelles Public Charter School in Mansura is progressing!

The organic garden & fruit orchard are now being planted, and the "Chicken Committee" is being formed to decide on how we can merge poultry with our garden.  This will enable children of all ages, from kindergarten to graduating seniors, to learn about gardening, cooking & life.  A hands-on teaching tool and sense of accomplishment will benefit all who encounter the Edible Schoolyard.

Organic!

Why Organic?

It's important for our children's health to provide them with pesticide-free food.
